  1. What do you do if your child has no awareness of her body and that it’s telling her she needs to go? She has never cared about being wet or messy and she is now 11 and still not trained. We are going out of our minds!! It’s to the point where I get anxiety to leave the house. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!!

    1. When I first started with Ainsley, she did not appear to have awareness of being wet, but a BM yes, I could tell she didn’t like being in a soiled pull-up. I will forward your question to Katie, but I believe she answered a similar question in her latest podcast. I would suggest you try the rapid toileting method. It’s very hard to do it yourself, so if you are able, you can pay for someone to come in and do it (OT’s and Behavioural Consultants can do it). If not, have someone, even a young person come in to assist you and block off 5 days to do it. By day 3 Ainsley was out of the bathroom and in underwear. Initially your daughter will be trip trained and the intervals will get longer. A year later, I still take Ainsley at regular intervals but she also often tells me when she needs to go.
