This was so good to listen to. Thank you! I was an early years educator and started kindergarten classes in rural Manitoba! I loved it and had large classes of 28 students. Every child has special needs and it was great to help build the community . My daughter is active as an educator and is beginning to further her studies in inclusive education. My grandson Joshua has the super powers of the 21 T and is 10 yes old. He is our inspiration, motivator and educator of inclusiveness. His abilities as a child with DS has initiated the school to become educated and take an active role as my daughter Jennifer took the lead that brought about change!! As parents. Grandparents we certainly support her and today’s podcast was so encouraging. I could see my daughter offering this type of support creativity and education to other parents just as Sara Jo did today! Thank you!
Thank you so much for your kind response! This has been a very popular episode and it’s great to learn that so many people have learned from this episode. How wonderful that your daughter is an active participant in our special needs community!
This is such a great podcast! I’m sending this to my class of EA’s, my teachers and Emmas teachers and her EA and support teacher. Everyone needs to listen to this!
Love the part about “advocating doesn’t mean you are a burden” I always have that feeling of being high maintenance parent even though I’m not gonna stop advocating it’s always running in the background.
Thanks Mary
Thank you so much Jeannie! Advocating is hard work but as parents it’s something we must do!
